January is ‪‎National Mentoring Month‬! LWH launched a number of program initiatives for Future LWH including peer to peer mentoring, homework help, and participation in the Gotham Basketball League to encourage young people to broaden their horizons, reach their full potential and pursue their dreams!


In February, Future LWH participated in a peer to peer mentoring workshop created and facilitated by 10th grader, Bryanna Roman. Participants shared stories of inspirational women and discussed ideas for future meetings. Next month LWH will host the annual Women's HERstory Month - click below for details!


In March, LWH celebrated Women's HERstory month with a special "Women In Sports" event hosted by LWH and the GRCC Beacon Program. The event included a girls basketball exhibition with Safe Haven and a Mother/Daughter basketball skills challenge. Winners received prizes courtesy of the New York Liberty!



In April, LWH claimed the courts at W. 70th street for a ladies only basketball game during the 1st #LWHFLASHMOB of the season. Future LWH all-stars also competed in the Jr. NBA 3v3 tournament at Basketball City and won the championship for their age group!


In May, LWH attended the New York Liberty season opener and met one of the Timeless Torches! LWH also announced a partnership with POINT3 Basketball, the new official outfitter of the LWH Classic tournament. To learn more about POINT3 and LWH click below.


In June, the LWH Classic Summer Tournament celebrated opening day at Sol Bloom Playground and Future LWH enjoyed a celebration at Basketball City for the Nike Zoom League season finale!  LWH also returned to the GOAT Courts for their legendary Sunday meetups!  



In July, LWH relaunched OWN THE COURT: A Basketball Camp for Girls in partnership with  the Goddard Riverside Community Center. LWH also welcomed WNBA All-Star, Hall of Famer and New York Liberty legend, Sue Wicks to the LWH Classic for New York Liberty Day on July 29th.


In August, LWH Classic All-Star, Que "Mamba" Lyles hit a tie-breaking shot to advance to the Full Court 21 Women's Division All-World Final.  LWH officially supports the Full Court 21 Tournament as a platform showcasing women's basketball across the globe.


In September, LWH partnered with United We Stand to host CHASE YOUR DREAMS: A Basketball & Life Skills Clinic for local youth. The 2-day event featured lessons created to instill critical life skills: accountability, perseverance, nutrition, hygiene, sportsmanship and team building.



In October, LWH participated in a charity game for Breast Cancer Awareness Month hosted by NYC Parks. LWH encourages all women to get checked - early detection saves lives! The LWH Classic Winter League also commenced this month - click below for details. 


In November, LWH partnered with the nonprofit organization Spoiled Brats Give Back, to send care packages to US military personnel via Operation Gratitude. On Veterans Day, LWH proudly honored SPC Nell "The Sniper" Stukes for her bravery and heroism protecting our nation.


In December, LWH partnered with the GRCC Beacon Program to host Play It Safe - a basketball themed event to raise awareness for people of all ages during Aids Awareness Month. LWH Winter League games concluded with a championship buzzer beater! Click below for all Winter League images.
